A 21-year-old woman and a 41-year-old man were killed when the Ferrari they were travelling in was fired at, at least 15 times. The incident took place in Soweto on Sunday.

News24 police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said that at about 10pm Sunday night the vehicle had been on the corner of Chris Hani and Klipvalley Road when it was blocked off by a Toyota Etios. A volley of bullets was then fired at the red Ferrari by the occupants of the Toyota. The attackers then sped off.

According to News24, Masondo said that it has not as yet been established what kind of relationship the deceased had. Police could not confirm if they were a couple.

While there have not been any arrests thus far, police are investigating two cases of murder. Masondo has appealed to the community to assist the Moroka police with any information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The incident follows hot on the heels of a police reservist and her manfriend having been shot dead in a Ford Mustang while driving in Soweto two weeks ago. Following their murders, the gunman reportedly shot himself dead at his home.
