Travel operator Fazila Malek has told Radio Islam she has consulted her attorney following the decision by the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) to bar her from acting as a hajj operator.

Sahuc made the announcement in a statement on Wednesday saying the decision follows a disciplinary inquiry held against Malek.

Malek who is a well-known Hajj operator has been taking Muslims for Hajj for decades providing services that have been complimented by many hujjaj.

Recently she has come under severe pressure following widespread claims where it is alleged she owes at least two and a half million Rand in loans and fees to Muslims who have booked with her travel agency.

Malek has denied allegations of defrauding Muslims telling Radio Islam people need to be patient as she has made alternative arrangements to pay back the money she owes them.
