On Thursday, two people were gunned down and four others wounded along Prince George Drive in Steenberg, Cape Town.
Police said the motive behind the fatal shooting is unknown, however, an investigation is underway.
Police suspect it might be gang-related, but City of Cape Town mayor JP Smith says the shooting appeared to be taxi-related violence.
“It appears to be an attempt by a taxi association to deal with competition on their routes. We have some associations who have frequently started operating on the routes of others in an unlawful manner and this is the quickest way in which the taxi violence starts,” says Smith.
The shooting comes a day after another similar shooting took place in Camps Bay on Wednesday, which claimed two lives.
Police said they are still looking for the gunmen responsible for the shooting in Camps Bay.
