Eskom says A shortage of generation capacity, caused by breakdowns in generation units and delays in others returning to service, has resulted in supply constraints.
The power utility says while no power cuts will be instituted just yet, it says that the power grid is under extreme pressure and that there is a high probability that the country will be without power during scheduled cuts.
The power utility says the public should reduce the amount of electricity it was using as “the power system is under severe pressure”.
Eskom says while no load shedding is anticipated at this point, it could be forced to implement stage one or, if necessary, stage two load shedding at short notice should any further breakdowns occur.
The power utility says the power cuts if implemented are most likely to occur between 5pm and 10pm.
