Eskom says due the increase in generation unit breakdown, it will implement load shedding from 12pm on Friday afternoon until 10pm.
In a statement, Eskom says more generating units have broken down, resulting in the utility battling to meet the high demand for electricity.
“With five generation units taken off the grid last night and this morning, a breakdown at the Matimba Power Station has today resulted in the need for load shedding. Two units at the Arnot Power Station as well as a unit each at Kendal, Tutuka and Majuba were taken off the grid last night and this morning.”
Eskom has urged the public to use electricity sparingly, especially from 4pm to 10pm to help minimize load shedding.
