Eskom has issued a power alert stating that load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Monday, May 31st.
The power utility released a statement on Twitter, outlining reasons for the planned outages, saying the cold front that set in earlier than anticipated has increased the demand while there has been generation unit breakdowns as well.
The planned outage is set to take place between 16:00 on Monday and lasts until 05:00 on Tuesday morning.
Some units are expected to be back online this evening, however the power demand remains high and it will not eliminate the likelihood of load-shedding for the rest of the week,
According to Eskom, the risk of load-shedding will persist through the high winter period as the constraint on generational supply remains.
Stage 2 loadshedding will be implemented from 16:00 this afternoon until 05:00 tomorrow

The utility is appealing to the public to limit usage during this time.
