Turkish President Recep Erdogan has blasted the US for recently relocating its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying Donald Trump’s administration was losing respect of the world.

Trump stated late last year that he recognised the Palestinian city as Israel, which angered the rest of the world.

Erdogan revealed that his sentiments were echoed by most world leaders, adding that the US had almost reduced its reputation to zero following recent developments in the Middle East.

Speaking to TRT World, the Turkish leader emphasised that the world had spoken when it voted 128-9 to reject Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital at the UN General Assembly in December.

“The capital city of Palestine is Jerusalem, and everyone knows that. There is no hesitation about that. Admit it or not, it doesn’t matter.”
