While the results of the elections are still filtering in, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) say the party will consider coalitions with any party that meets their demands.
Before the elections, EFF leader Julius Malema said he wanted certain guarantees before partnering with either the African National Congress (ANC) or the Democratic Alliance (DA).
Malema wants the parties to commit to addressing problems in areas such as Alexandra where residents recently protested over a lack of housing, land and rising crime.
Speaking to Radio Islam at the Tshwane results operation centre (ROC) on Thursday, the EFF’s Dali Mpofu says they will consider their options before going into coalitions with any party.
“It’s unlikely given the experiences we’ve had now, it’s unlikely the DA would be able to meet our demands. Even the ANC we’ll treat them in the same way.”
Mpofu also says that Malema will not be at the elections centre on Friday or Saturday when the results of the are announced, as he will be attending his grandmothers funeral.
