Dullah Omar’s Nephew Shot Dead in Cape Town

August 11, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 11-08-2017

Police are investigating a case of murder after the nephew of late Minister Dullah Omar was shot dead in Lansdowne in Cape Town.

It’s believed 38-year-old Shaheed Omar was gunned down in an apparent attempted hijacking late yesterday.

His father, Dr Adam Omar, is a well-known community doctor in Rylands.

The police’s FC van Wyk says the motive for the killing is being investigated

“Circumstances surrounding a shooting incident last night at about 20:30 on the corners of Lansdowne Road and Jan Smuts Road, Lansdowne where a 38-year-old man was fatally wounded are under investigation. A murder case was registered for investigation.”

Van Wyk has appealed to anyone with any information about the shooting to contact the police.

There is no evidence the killing is related to the family’s recent criticism of the ANC after they distanced itself from the pro-Zuma marches earlier this week and requested the removal of Dullah Omar’s name from the ANC Cape Town Metro Region.
