Just a week after an attack on the Masjid-Al-Aqsa compound by Israeli authorities, dozens were injured in yet another raid at the holy site on Friday morning.
Palestinians threw stones in retaliation to the fresh raid by the Israeli police, who were dressed in full riot gear and entered the compound firing rubber bullets and stun grenades.
The latest raid comes amidst heightened tensions in the occupied East Jerusalem and West Bank, where Israeli authorities have been arresting Palestinians.
On Friday, a 20 year old Palestinian, Ibrahim Lebedi, died of injuries he sustained after being shot during a raid at al-Yamun, near the city of Jenin, in the northern occupied West Bank earlier in the week.
Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, told a delegation of the U.S. State Department that Israel was responsible for the escalation in the occupied East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.
