Following the brutal strangling of a woman from Vorna Valley in Midrand north of Johannesburg on Wednesday, the 27 year-old domestic worker has been arrested for the crime Gauteng police said.
Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the domestic worker appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on charges of murder.
28-year-old Tahira Meetha the daughter of a prominent Islamic scholar was strangled after three men entered the complex in Vorna Valley and knocked on the door.
The domestic worker allegedly opened the door allowing the suspects to gain entry into the home.
“Follow up investigations led to the arrest of the domestic worker and the two stolen laptops were found in an informal settlement in Tembisa,” said Maphakela.
Police are still searching for three suspects believed to be her accomplices.
