Doctors gave him just days to live – now he is performing Hajj!

September 10, 2016

Ebrahim Moosa – Radio Islam International | 08 Dhul Hijjah 1437/10 September 2016

“My name is AbdiAziz. I am a cancer patient. I am in India but cannot get treatment. I want to go for Hajj, please give me this Insha Allah”.

Those were the words spoken by 23-year-old Kenyan, Abdiaziz Aden, barely 2 weeks ago as he stared at a camera blankly from his hospital bed in India.

He is a cancer patient, whose condition had led to the amputation of a leg as well.

His ordeal started when he hit his leg on a matatu some years back.

He was later diagnosed with Osteogenic sarcoma (cancer of the bone) that led to the amputation of his right limb.

Abdiaziz travelled to India for treatment on Wednesday, August 24 in a trip borne out of the goodwill of his friends and neighbours in the Korogocho slum where he resides.

Unfortunately, doctors there told him it was too late for any intervention as the bone cancer had reached a stage that could not be treated.

AbdiAziz was told that he has just days to live.

As I watched footage of his fervent plea, I could hardly fathom how his dream would somehow be realised. AbdiAziz was captured with pain, hardly finding himself in any position to travel. He was in India, and getting to Makkah with barely days left for Hajj, without any funds and documentation, seemed an extremely tall order.

But I should have known better.

The lands of Hajj, are lands of miracles from the very onset of Creation, and in inviting pilgrims to the Holy Lands, Allah SWT continues to work His miracles.

On hearing his heartfelt wish, Kenyans on social media mobilised across the country and in no time, miraculously raised all the money for him to cover his travel costs for the journey.

AbdiAziz was called.

On Monday, September 5, with less than a week remaining for Hajj, he jetted off to Saudi Arabia.

Subsequent pictures of him posted online show him on the airplane, donning the Ihram, and later at Masjid al Haram performing Umrah and touching the Ka’bah.

Kenyans back home have been cheering on their hero, and meticulously following his progress.

“I believe in miracles, and a big miracle is about to come, though am a devoted Christian, I have never felt so close to God than the last few month in presence of this Man Abdiaziz Aden,” friend Mutura Kuria said on Facebook.

“You already know his story, we have already assisted him financially and in prayers. Lets connect and the miracle is coming to us.

“And so good people lets not stop praying. Aziz is making his pilgrimage in prayers let’s all be with him in prayers. More than ever let’s all connect in prayers. All will be well.”
