The Central Energy Fund (CEF) predicts that diesel prices will drop in the coming weeks as global oil prices decrease and the rand gains momentum.
Diesel is expected to decrease by approximately R1.55 per litre, according to the Automobile Association (AA).
However, analysis shows that even though diesel prices are set to decrease, petrol prices will likely rise by 62 cents a litre for 95 unleaded petrol and 52 cents for 93 unleaded petrol.
The price adjustments are likely to take effect from Wednesday, 7 December, with an official announcement expected from the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy.
However, if current trends continue, the AA predicts that price increases may fall below 30 cents by the end of the month.
