Death Toll From Deadly Avalanche Hits 25 In Kashmir

January 31, 2017

Sameera Baba – 31/01/2017

The death toll from a series of avalanches which struck Indian-administered Kashmir has climbed to 25.

Reports indicate the soldiers had been approaching a border post along the LoC when their snow track caved in.

At least 15 other Indian troops died in another avalanche which occurred last week.

Indian-administered Kashmir has been witnessing one of the most severe winters in recent decades.

Authorities have warned of the possibility of more avalanches and advised residents in mountainous areas not to venture out.
