Cycle Club Lenasia, History of Giving Back to the Community

April 22, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 22-04-2018

The Ocular Cycle Club Lenasia (CCL) held its annual awards dinner at the Baitun Noor Hall in Lenasia on Saturday.

The organization which currently boasts seventy members have cycled in a number of tournaments, including the 94.7 challenge, and the Cape Argus Cycle tour.

Chairman Moosa Patel says the club which started a few years ago, has a history of promoting social cohesion among society and giving back to many communities.

“Cycling is a passion and even if we don’t win anything.”

Patel says they will be partnering with NGO Tiba Service for the Blind next year for a possible cycle challenge.

The CCL was also part of the Gandhi Walk in Lenasia on 15 April, featuring South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Patel also highlighted plans for the launch of a CCL junior club to include young children and introduce them to cycling and take the sport to new destinations.
