Crownwood Road Near Ormonde Closed Off Due to Safety Reasons

February 28, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2016-02-28

The Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) says its has closed off a section of the Crownwood Road near Ormonde in Crown Mines due to safety reasons.

It’s understood the recent rains and flooding has caused a major culvert to collapse making the road unstable.

The JRA’s Bertha Peters-Scheepers says engineers have inspected the road and emergency repair work is expected to begin from tomorrow.

“It’s very important that motorists do not press through the closed off area. The tar is very narrow, it’s actually down to 300mm, so we call upon motorists to avoid that area completely for their own safety.”
