Criminals Dig Tunnel to Break into Al Baraka Bank

May 02, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 02-05-2018

Al Baraka Bank says it’s working with police following a break-in at the bank.

In what can be described as a scene from a Hollywood movie, brazen criminals dug a tunnel underground and used the sewage pipe early Wednesday morning to gain entry into the facility in Fordsburg.

It’s understood the criminals managed to get into the bank, but fled after they were disturbed.

The police’s Xoli Mbele says they are investigating a case of business break-in.

“The people who are working at Al Baraka Bank, it is alleged that they find a hole that was dug by the suspects. But fortunately there was no money that was taken inside the bank, but some of the items like laptops were taken.”

Mbele says Al Baraka Bank is still verifying some of items that were stolen.
