The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 350,879
This is an increase of 13,285 from Friday’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 144 bringing the total to 4,948
Gauteng has the most infections with 128,604 followed by Western Cape at 85,411, Eastern Cape at 60,976, KwaZulu-Natal 40,086, Free State 9,004, North West 13,400, Mpumalanga 6,644, Limpopo 4,490, Northern Cape 2,197 and unallocated infections 67.
The total number of recoveries to date is 182,230, which translates to a recovery rate of 52%.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 2,422,741 this is an increase of 49,688 which were done in the last 24 hours.
“Regrettably, we report a further 144 COVID-19 related deaths – this brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 4,948.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families of those who have succumbed to the pandemic.
