The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 1845.
This is an increase of 96 cases from Tuesday’s announcement of 1749.
Gauteng has the most infections with 782, followed by the Western Cape at 495, KwaZulu-Natal 354, Free State 88, North West 15, Mpumalanga 21, Limpopo 21, Eastern Cape 45, Northern Cape 13 and unallocated infections 11.
Health Minister Zweli Mkhize also says that 18 people have now died from the virus in South Africa.
“We convey our condolences to the family of the deceased and also appreciate the health workers that treated the deceased patient.”
The total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 63 776. This is an increase of 5 678 from our the report.
