COVID-19 Deaths Increase to 206, Infections Rise to 10,652

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 10,652.

This is an increase of 637 from Sunday’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 12 bringing the total to 206

The Western Cape has the most infections with 5,621, followed by Gauteng at 1,971, KwaZulu-Natal 1,372, Free State 135, North West 50, Mpumalanga 63, Limpopo 54, Eastern Cape 1,356, Northern Cape 30 and unallocated infections 0.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 356,067 this is an increase of 14,731, which were done in the last 24 hours.

“We are saddened to report 12 new deaths. Western Cape: 8, Eastern Cape: 2, KwaZulu-Natal: 1, North West: 1 (This is the first death in the North West Province).”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
