The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 7,808
This is an increase of 236 from Tuesdays’s announcement.
The number of deaths has also increased by 5 bringing the total to 153
The Western Cape has the most infections with 3,760, followed by Gauteng at 1,720, KwaZulu-Natal 1,189, Free State 130, North West 37, Mpumalanga 57, Limpopo 40, Eastern Cape 849, Northern Cape 26 and unallocated infections 0.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 279,379 this is an increase of 11,315, which were done in the last 24 hours.
Mkhize also announced that there were 3,153 recoveries.
“Regrettably, we report 5 more COVID-19 related deaths: 2 from Western Cape, 1 from Limpopo Province and 2 from KwaZulu Natal. This brings the total national deaths to 153.”
Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families and appreciation to the health workers who treated the patients.
