COVID-19 Deaths in SA Now at 54, While Infections Increases to 3,158

Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize has announced that 2 more people have died from COVID-19 in South Africa bring the total deaths to 54 while the infections have jumped to 3,158

This is an increase of 124 from Saturday’s announcement.

Gauteng has the most infections with 1,148, followed by the Western Cape at 868, KwaZulu-Natal 617, Free State 100, North West 24, Mpumalanga 23, Limpopo 27, Eastern Cape 293, Northern Cape 16 and unallocated infections 42.

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 114,711this is an increase of 6,690 from the last report.

“Today we regrettably report 2 more COVID-19 related deaths. Similar to yesterday, these are from KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape. This brings the total death toll to 54 today.”

Mkhize has conveyed government’s condolences to the families and acknowledged appreciation to the health workers who were treating the deceased patients.
