COVID-19 Deaths in SA Jumps to 552, Infections Rise to 25,937

The Health Department has announced that the number of COVID-19 infections in South Africa has risen to 25,937. 

This is an increase of 1,673 from Tuesdays’s announcement.

The number of deaths has also increased by 28 bringing the total to 552

The Western Cape has the most infections with 16,893, followed by Gauteng at 3167, KwaZulu-Natal 2,186, Free State 221, North West 128, Mpumalanga 106, Limpopo 141, Eastern Cape 3,047, Northern Cape 48 and unallocated infections 0.

The total number of recoveries to date is 13,451. 

Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize says the total number of COVID-19 tests conducted to date is 634,996 this is an increase of 29,005 which were done in the last 24 hours.

“Regrettably, we report 28 more COVID-19 related deaths- this brings the total national deaths to 552.”

Mkhize has expressed his condolences to the affected families.
