Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota has accused the African National Congress (ANC) of overthrowing the constitution after President Jacob Zuma reshuffled his cabinet.
Lekota was speaking at the occupy treasury gathering at Church Square in Pretoria today ahead of the Save SA march in protest against the axing of former finance minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas.
About 200 people are protesting against Zuma following his cabinet reshuffle last week.
Lekota says the law of the country states that you can only occupy the position of president if you respect the country’s constitution.
“Essentially we must refuse to cooperate with a government that is not respecting the constitution. We must demand that in the office of president there must be somebody that who is bound by the oath of office, who has taken an oath and who respects that oath, just as President Mandela did.”
