The South African Weather Service says the cold weather conditions that gripped parts of South Africa during in the past few days, is expected to continue this week getting worse.
It says freezing temperatures are due to the cloudy conditions with showers of rain at times that are expected from Tuesday until Thursday over North West, Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga and some parts of Limpopo.
The weather service says warmer weather is expected from Friday, with temperatures improving to the high teens and low twenties from the weekend.
“The heavy rains which can lead to localized flooding are expected along the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal into southern Mozambique on Wednesday night into Thursday.”
The weather service says it will continue to monitor any further developments relating to this weather system and has urged South African to dress warmly during the cold weather condition.
