The City of Johannesburg has a new hotline to report reckless drivers.

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba will launch the hotline and reveal more details about how it will work.

The WhatsApp operated line would be operated by the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD).

The city says the The Reckless Driving Hotline allows residents to report reckless and inconsiderate road behaviour.

“They will be able to upload the footage onto the WhatsApp-based hotline whereafter JMPD will follow up and take the necessary actions.”

The city says the the launch of the pilot project is aimed to improve driver behaviour and to ensure that road safety is enhanced.
