City of Joburg Gets Three New Fire Engines

February 22, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 22-02-2018

In a bid to replace its ageing fleet, the City of Joburg’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) has acquired three state of the art new fire engines to ensure that 4.4 million residents within the city are adequately serviced.

The new fleet boasts the latest technology and are locally manufactured which allows for easier maintenance.

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says residents have raised a number of concerns over the years about the City’s ability to ensure their safety in the event of fire outbreaks.

“It is my pleasure to assure residents that the procurement and possession of the first batch of fire engines will ensure that the City is able to alleviate much of the pressure that has been placed on our Emergency Management Services.”

Joburg EMS says one of the fire engines will be deployed to Fairview Fire Station which will render much needed rescue services to the community of District 3 comprising of Malvern, the Johannesburg Inner City and Berea.

The second fire fighting vehicle its says will be delivered to the Jabulani Fire Station which will service the greater part of Soweto while the third will be deployed to the newly built Cosmo City Fire Station which will soon be launched and service Cosmo City, Diepsloot and Lonehill.
