A member from the delegation of Palestinian Christians in Bethlehem has told Radio Islam Christians are part of the Palestinian struggle as much as members from the Muslim community.
Hosted by the SA Council of Churches among other organizations, the delegation are currently on tour in South Africa.
The group includes Dr Rifat Kasis of the Lutheran Church, Khader Jamal of the Catholic Church and Mona Nasser, a youth activist, from the Greek Orthodox Church.
Nasser says Palestinian Christians insist that they, together with all Palestinians, share the same suffering under Israel’s regime of Apartheid.
She says Israel attempts to present this conflict as a Jewish-Muslim religious conflict.
“Israel is giving no special treatment to the Christians. The Christians are facing much inequality as much as the Muslims.”
She says Palestinian Christian are inspired by South Africa’s struggle for freedom.
“We take hope from South Africa from the struggle that South Africa went through and we see a way forward. We hope that you would be one of the first countries to acknowledge the inequalities and the injustice that the Palestinians suffer because of Israel.”
Nasser says Israel is making life for Palestinian Muslims and Christians unbearable forcing them to leave their homes and immigrate to other countries.
