Cash in Transit Guards Shot & Wounded in Joburg Cash Heist

April 03, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 03-04-2017

Two cash in transit security guards have been left critically injured after an apparent cash-in-transit heist in the Johannesburg CBD.

It’s understood a white Toyota Quantum stopped near a Capitec bank ATM this morning when four gun men opened fire at the G4S cash transit vehicle before making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The police’s Kay Makhubela says they are investigating the heist.

“We can confirm that this morning around 10:30am, a group of men attacked G4S security and robbed them of undisclosed cash.”

This is the second cash in transit heist in less than a week.

On Saturday another cash-in-transit heist occurred on the R24 on the East Rand near Barbara Road.
