The case against nine suspects, including a 16-year-old, arrested for the murder of late apartheid struggle stalwart Ahmed Kathrada’s nephew and his son has been postponed to the 5th of December for a formal bail application.
The suspects appeared in the Schweizer-Reneke magistrate’s court in the North West on Wednesday.
Sixty five year old Yunus Kathrada and his 28-year-old son Moulana Ahmed Kathrada were killed by the armed suspects during an apparent house robbery in the North West earlier this month.
The police’s Adele Myburg says the suspects will remain in custody until their next court appearance.
“During the court appearance, their cases was again postponed till the 5 of December. Out of these nine suspects, three of them decided to apply for bail. All other accused decided to abandon bail, which means they are not going to apply for bail and remain in custody.”
