A 44-year-old businessman has been shot dead outside his shop in Hillbrow in Johannesburg.

It’s understood a group of suspects entered the clothing shop of Ismail Khan, the son of late Sharief Khan this morning and pointed firearms at the employees.

The polices Kay Makhubele says they are investigating a case of attempted business robbery.

“One employee who happened to have a firearm shot towards the suspects and they ran away. On their way out they met the owner of the shop at the entrance and shot him on his upper body. He was rushed to hospital where he was certified dead.”

Makhubele says the suspects fled the scene in a white Ford Ranger.

He says nothing was taken from the shop and no arrests have been made.
