One of the partners in a billion Rand buyout offer of dairy and drinks producer Clover says it reviewing its role in the proposed transaction.

Concerns were raised by Boycott Divestment Sanction South Africa (BDS SA) after Clover received a R 4.8 billion buyout offer from investors led by srael’s Central Bottling Company (CBC)

The potential acquirer is 60% owned by CBC, with other investors including Brimstone Investment.

In a statement, Brimstone Investment says its reviewing the deal.

“Having regard to our Company’s values driven identity, we have taken note of the widespread outrage in respect of Brimstone’s participation in the proposed purchase of South African company Clover Industries Limited.”

BDS South Africa says while Israeli companies are known to share false information, it will be investigating the authenticity of the reports of the investment in Clover.
