Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 06-03-2018

Gauteng Finance MEC Barbra Creecy has allocated over R 46 billion to health while education will receive over R 45 billion.

Creecy tabled her budget of over R 121 billion in the Gauteng Legislature on Tuesday.

This year’s budget has increased by over R9 billion from the adjusted budget of over R112 billion in November.

Creecy says the province would aim to collect R6bn of its own revenue in the coming financial year, and that it will increase to R6.7bn over the medium term.

She says the department of roads and transport would receive R16.2bn of the R31.8bn budget that has been set aside for infrastructure over the medium term.

“The most significant project to start in the design phase this year is the PWV 15, the first brand-new Gauteng highway to be built since the 1970s.”

Creecy says provincial government was proud in using government’s massive procurement spend to drive meaningful transformation‚ empowerment‚ job creation and economic inclusion in the mainstream economy.
