The case against a 43-year-old man facing charges of incitement to commit violence has been postponed for a formal bail application.
Themba Mnisi from De Deur appeared at the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
According to the charge sheet, Mnisi posted a message on a WhatsApp group called “Vaal operation dudula” calling on people to disarm the police by burning their houses and police vehicles with petrol bomb in June.
He was arrested by the Hawks this month.
The NPA’s Lumka Mahanjana said: “The matter involving Themba Mnisi has been postponed to 19 August for a formal bail application.”
During last month’s unrest, shopping centres in parts of the Vaal were looted, with some partially torched.
