Baby Named After Jamiat Relief Team Member

October 04, 2017

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 4/10/2017

A Rohingya Muslim refugee woman, who has taken shelter in the refugee camp of Jamtoli in Cox’s Bazaar, gave birth to a baby boy three days ago and named him after As’ad (Ml Pandor) of The Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Relief Team.

The 18-year-old Muneera crossed over from the Rakhine state of Myanmar after her husband went missing during clashes which sparked ethnic violence in the region.

Clad in a yellow throw over, Muneera relives the horror, ” The entire Rakhine district is burning. My house was burnt. I ran from Myanmar alive and struggled to stay alive with a baby in my womb. I crossed the border and have come to Bangladesh. I gave birth to a baby boy here.”

Ml As’ad says when he found out that the baby had no name, he couldn’t help himself but to ask the permission of the mother to name her son As’ad.

“It was one of the most moving and emotional experiences of my life, and it’s something that I personally, will never forget.”

Ml As’ad made a du’a from his heart that the little boy becomes an ambassador of Islam and also hopes to meet him one day in the future.
