A 64-year-old Hifz teacher from Darul Uloom Azaadville has completed the entire recitation of the holy Qur’an during the holy month of Ramadan in the taraweeh salaah in just one night.
It’s understood Hafez Yusuf Jassat completed the mammoth taraweeh salaah in a classroom at the institution starting on Monday at 7:50pm and finishing at 5:15am, just before sehri, the pre-dawn meal on Tuesday.
According to posts on social media platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp, Hafez Jassat read 29 paras in the first rakaat and the 30th para in rakaats 2 to 20.
A post by Fatima Mohammad on Whatsapp says that Hafez Jassat has been performing this tarawaeeh for a number years with many people from out of town congregating for the prayer.
“He is gifted by Allah Ta’ala. My hubby attended it last night. He said: ‘He’s amazing, Allah has definitely accepted him. He stands the entire night and doesn’t move an inch or wriggle at all.”
It’s also believed that during the entire recitation of the qur’an during the taraweeh, Hafez Jassat made only 4 mistakes!
The recitation of the Qur’an during the blessed month of Ramadan is usually completed on the 29th of the month.
However many masaajid and hufaaz have over the years, and continue to perform taraweeh reading 2,3,4 or more paras in one night to complete the entire Qur’an in ten nights or less.
May Allah accept the efforts of all the hufaaz during this most auspicious month and may He make the spirit of Ramadan stay in our hearts and illuminate our souls from within and bestow his acceptance of our prayers and fasts Insha’Allah.
