A 49-year-old man has been charged with dealing in drugs after he was found with heroin worth R 50 million at the Nkomazi Toll Gate on the N4 in Mpumalanga in one of the biggest drug busts.
The man was arrested yesterday by the White River K9 Unit after they found the drugs, believed to be pure Afghani heroin stashed inside the petrol tank of a Toyota Prado.
Police say the vehicle had two fuel tanks, one of which was disconnected in order to hide the drugs.
The police’s Gerald Sedibe says the man was returning to Gauteng from Mozambique.
“A 49-year-old Mozambican national who was arrested yesterday for dealing in drugs appeared today before the Barberton Magistrates Court. He was remanded in custody and the case postponed to the 14th of March for bail application.”
