A shooting incident in Austin, Texas, in the United States, has left at least 13 people wounded, two of whom are in a critical condition.
Al Jazeera reports that shots were fired just before 1:25am local time on Saturday in an area popular for dining and entertainment. Austin Police Department Interim Chief, Joseph Chacon, said that the street had been barricaded so that cars could not enter.
He said that police were able to immediately begin life-saving measures, with some officers transporting patients to hospitals in their police cruisers. Ambulances could not get through with ease due to the crowd and the barricades.
The shooter has not been arrested as yet. According to A Jazeera police do not have a “very detailed” description of the suspect, however, they believe the suspect is male. Chacon said that investigators were still viewing surveillance footage and investigating other evidence.
It was unclear what had triggered the shooting, the latest in a recent series of mass shootings across the US.
