Another jewellery store has been targeted at Gateway Theatre of Shopping, north of Durban, on Sunday at 12:22 pm.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Capt. Nqobile Gwala confirmed Narandas Jewellers had been robbed. A security guard and staff were held at gunpoint when armed robbers raided a jewellery store on Sunday.

The tenants smoke cloak was activated, forcing the suspects to leave the mall shortly after –with an undisclosed amount of merchandise. The Centre’s security teams immediately responded to the scene, and the SAPS were notified and responded to the scene soon after.

Captain Gwala, said the armed robbers took various jewellery items and fled the scene in their getaway vehicle. She said no shots were fired and that the matter was still under investigation. A case of business robbery has been opened for investigation by Durban North SAPS.

Narandas Jewellers, in the Pavilion Shopping Centre, was also hit in October and November last year. At the end of April, the store was robbed again, and a civilian was shot and injured in the crossfire.
