Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-03-26

A 62-year-old woman from Lenasia, south of Johannesburg has been strangled to death in a house robbery this afternoon.

“The woman who was left alone in the house during the day was found strangled and killed,” the Polices Kay Makhubela said.

Family members discovered the elderly woman’s body when they returned home from work.

Makhubela said an undisclosed amount of money and electrical items were taken from the house.

“Nobody is arrested yet, but we are investigating house robbery and murder.”

This is third violent crime in Lenasia this week.

On Tuesday a 25-year-old man was shot and killed after an attempted hijacking in Lenasia extension 13, while another man was shot in the leg in Hydrangea Avenue, also in Lenasia after a group of men broke in to his house during the early hours Wednesday morning.

Police are appealing to anyone with information regarding these crimes to come forward.
