As speculation around the fate of President Jacob Zuma continues, the African National Congress (ANC) has called a special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Pretoria on Monday.
The meeting comes after the party’s top six met on Saturday to get a report back from Cyril Ramaphosa on his talks with the president.
Last week Wednesday Zuma was meant to be recalled by the special NEC which was called following a recommendation by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) for the highest decision making body to take the final decision on Zuma’s future.
ANC spokesperson Pule Mabe says he is unable to speak about the agenda of Monday’s NEC meeting.
“We are unable to speak to the agenda at this stage. You will recall that we were supposed to have a special NEC meeting in Cape Town during the week which was not held. A special NEC has been convened for tomorrow.”
Mabe says the South Africans will be informed of any other developments related to the NEC meeting.
