President Cyril Ramaphosa says the African National Congress (ANC) and South Africans share the compassion of humanity for Palestinians including other parts of the world gripped by war and instability.

Ramaphosa was speaking about global order during the unveiling of the ANC’s election manifesto at a packed Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

He says ANC structures together with alliance partners must organise a series of lectures throughout the country to educate South Africans about the challenges and struggles of the Palestinian people.

Ramaphosa says the party is resolute in its support for the aspiration of the Palestinian people and condemns the occupation of Palestinian territory and the suppression of their rights.

“We will do whatever is within our means to promote a just and peaceful resolution of the conflict which leads to the creation of a viable Palestinian state alongside, and in harmony with, the state of Israel.”
