A 51-year-old ANC councillor has been killed in Freedom Park south of Johannesburg.
It’s understood the man was returning home from a meeting yesterday when he was shot.
The police’s Thuli Ngwenya says a white Ford Focus without registration plates was seen speeding away from the scene.
“A 51-year-old ANC councillor was shot and killed at his house in Freedom Park last night. It’s alleged by the witnesse that he heard three gunshots then went outside to check. Upon his investigation that’s when he realised that the councillor was shot and killed. He was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.”
Ngwenya says the motive for the shooting is not known and no arrests have been made.
