ANC Announces Nominations for Top Six Party Leadership

The African National Congress (ANC) has announced the candidates for the top six positions at the party’s 54th elective conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg. 

The contenders for president of the ANC are Cyril Ramaphosa with 1469 nominations across six provinces, while Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma received 1094 nominations also across six provinces. 

The deputy president position for the ANC will be contested by David Mabuza with 1128 nominations and he goes up against Lindiwe Sisulu who received 807 nominations. Zweli Mkhize and Naledi Pandor declined their nominations. 

The position of national chairperson will be battled by Gwede Mantashe who received 1,499 nominations and he goes up against Nathi Mthethwa with 804 nominations.

The options for secretary general are Ace Magashule with 930 nominations while Senzo Mchunu received 1479 nominations. 

The position of deputy secretary general will be contested by Jessie Duarte who garnered 845 nominations while Zingiswa Losi got 361. 

The fight for treasurer general for the ANC are Paul Mashatile with 1,581 nominations and he goes up against and Maite Nkoana-Mashabane with 275 nominations.  Nomvula Mokhonyane declined the nomination. 

Delegates will now cast their votes on Sunday evening, with the results expected to be announced on Monday morning.
