In discussion with Radio Islam International is Ibrahim Hooper on behalf of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.
The American Muslim midterm voter survey results were released, which can be viewed on the cair.com website.
“I think one of the big results was the lack of approval of President Biden. It showed that 49%, almost half of American Muslim voters disapproved of Biden’s performance, while at the same time saying that the Republican Party was unfriendly. The vast majority said that. So it’s kind of a split decision there. I think they’re just kind of following the national mood that that the train is on the wrong tracks in regard to the Biden presidency without necessarily saying the Republicans are going to be any better,” says Ibrahim.
There is also the report on the International Religious Freedom issued by the US government and Imam Majeed’s appointment.
Ibrahim tells Radio Islam, “Sometimes when they appoint Muslim people, they don’t necessarily have deep roots in the American Muslim community. But in my mind, Imam Majeed does as he is the Imam of one of the most active mosques in the Northern Virginia area. And he’s well known locally, nationally and even internationally. I’ve known him personally for more than 20 years. He’s a great pick and represents the American Muslim community well.”
There have been repeated calls for an FBI probe. FBI, of course, states stating that this is not within our jurisdiction. Is there any movement on the rings to investigate the murder of Shireen Abu Akleh?
Ibrahim says, “Unfortunately, President Biden even before he took office was deeply deeply pro-Israel. Basically anything goes as far as Israel is concerned and he’s been that way before he even took office.”
In New York, Muslim community members of Suffolk County, the District Attorney, and the police commissioner addressed the firebombing of a Long Island mosque.
“The bombing of the Long Island Masjid happened in the last few days. And it was targeting the symbol for the mosque out in front with some fire bomb. We’ve seen no increase in this kind of thing, even though it continues to happen. We see a tremendous rise in white supremacist, neo-Nazi racist activity nationwide. And that’s why many of our statements recently aren’t necessarily damning attacks on mosques. Daily, even today, we’re condemning the distribution of neo-Nazi white supremacist recruiting materials,” added Ibrahim.
