A Syrian national who has been accused of having carried out multiple executions for ISIS has been arrested at a refugee camp in Athens, Greece. Arab News reports that the 27-year-old was arrested early Thursday morning.
The investigation is being led by Athens so called anti-terrorism police. They said that the unnamed man had moved to Greece in 2018.
A police statement read: “The suspect…is accused of being a member of a terrorist organization and participating in acts of terrorism, with participation in multiple acts of homicide.” It further stated that the man had kept a “digital record” of his alleged criminal actions which was being examined by forensic experts.
There were no details given of where and when the alleged killings in which the suspect is accused of having participated, had taken place.
Arab News reports that ISIS had held large areas in northern Iraq, extending into Syria, but had lost most of the territory by the end of 2017.
