Algerian Deported from France over ‘anti-Semitism’

April 19, 2021

France has deported an Algerian delivery man after he had allegedly refused to take orders from Jewish restaurants.

A scandal had apparently been sparked when the 19-year-old Deliveroo rider declined orders from two Kosher restaurants in the Alsace region. He reportedly said, “I do not serve Jewish customers”. The incident had occurred in January. He was arrested following a complaint to police by the restaurant’s owner. The BBC reports that Dhia Edine D was subsequently sentenced to four months in prison.

Upon his arrest for discrimination, the food courier was claimed to have been living illegally in France.

However, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin announced that he had come to the decision that the Algerian had had to be expelled from “the national territory”, following his prison sentence. Mr Darmanin on Saturday tweeted: “As I promised the delivery man who refused to serve Jewish customers has been expelled today”. Darmanin further tweeted: “Anti-Semitic hatred has no place in France.”
