An arrest warrant has been issued for ANC’s secretary general Ace Magashule relating to a R255 million contract for asbestos in the Free State, the Hawks confirmed.
Magashule is expected to appear at the High Court in Bloemfontein later this week.
The Free State director for public prosecutions signed the warrant on Tuesday.
Magashule is accused of making between R1 million and R10 million from the failed project during his tenure as premier in the province.
The arrest is linked to testimony heard at the Zondo Commission earlier this year about the audit of asbestos houses in the Free State with R255 million being allocated to the project.
This is a developing story.
