Synopsis:

Imam Nawawi (ra) needs no introduction. He is a well-known academic and great hadith and fiqh scholar, known mostly for his commentary on Sahih Muslim and his Arba’een ‘Nawawi. Likewise, his hadith compilation Riyaadus Saaliheen is accepted by laymen and scholars alike as a prominent compilation of Hadith.

The Riyadus Saaliheen has been translated before and revised by many scholars eg. Aisha Bewley and Moulana Mohammedy (Gardens of the Righteous). There are very few books that supersede it explaining the sunnah, particularly moral values. In the Darus Salaam edition one notes interpolation, chapter headings being changed and skewed translations to suit a particular Salafist ideology. Here, this book differs in that it offers not only a translation, but also a commentary (brief explanation) and additional points whereby spurious interpretations can be set to rest. Vocabulary and Definitions are dealt with in a separate section, as well as an explanation of Arabic phrases whereby appreciation of the hadith increases.

The first edition is hardbound and was printed meticulously in Turkey adding to a noteworthy contribution by a South African Muslim scholar.
