The Assad regime who was responsible for a barrel bomb explosion causing a Syrian mother to lose her eye sight will be able to see her sons for the first time in two years.
Fatima Nahas, 35, endured a total number of 20 surgeries in Hatay Turkey to restore her eyesight after suffering severe burns to her face in an attack in Aleppo on 9 January 2019.
During her stay in hospital in Hatay in the southern part of Turkey Fatima and her husband, Mazen Khadija, 41, left their two children in the care of their grandmother.
After 12 painstaking surgeries to restore her sight and more than 20 others to relieve pressure from the scars on her face and body, she was able to see her two children four-year-old Mohammad Al-Fateh and three-year-old Zakaria on 8 January. After an emotional reunion, the family, apart from her mother, is now settled in the Turkish town of Adana.
With many more surgeries still on the cards, Fatima is hopeful that her mother can move to Adana to live with and care for her two grandchildren while she is in hospital.
